Career Exploration-Steam Ahead-Building Your Future Workforce
This event is designed to be a hands on, career exploring event for middle school students, and other students looking at their future careers. This is one way we can help you to build your future pipeline of your workforce.
This particular event will be in Austin this year, Owatonna next year, and Albert Lea the following year. All of these schools are part of an 8 district school consortium. All 8 of these schools, plus some of the other schools that are close in geographic proximity are invited to this event. We already have confirmation of attendance from some of these schools. Since this is the first year for the event, we do not have an approximate number of students yet. As the schools register, we will get that number. We do hold a similar event in Rochester - and usually have 2000+ students attend.
We ask that if you participate, that you have something hands on, that is interactive, and shows some of the real work that happens. Some of you already have some great tools for this. Some examples: If you are a restaurant, a thermometer, measuring food temps. An accountant could be a desk, calculator, forms of some sort. We have had garbage trucks, simulators, a production line of a few people, a wheel to spin to answer different career questions, so many different things. Be creative!
